How To: Check if Any Website is Blocked in China
While it is known to all that China is pretty good at censoring some of the websites that prove to be harmful to it, most of the webmasters and bloggers in this tech world live with fear. Since China itself seems to be a good source for traffic, getting banned from that country is pretty bad for webmasters. If you might have known, The Great Firewall of China has already blocked lots of popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Getting to the topic, here is a pretty cool website or tool that will let you check whether a particular website is banned in China or not. On hitting the website’s URL, the tool will start scanning from the servers of China. And in a matter of time, you can get the information, highlighting the fact that the website is visible to the Chinese or not.
- Head to BlockedInChina
- In the available box, hit the URL of the website you want to check.
- Once you have typed the website address, hit the Test button and tool will start scanning.
In a short time, the results will pop. As you can see, the tool will try to access the website from five Chinese servers : Beijing, Shenzen, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang Province, Yunnan Province. On the right side lie the results. If the site is visible the probable result would be OK and on the other hand, if it is not visible, the result would beBLOCKED.
As for Axleration, our site is pretty safe and can be seen from any server located in China. With no content in Axleration proving to be harmful to the country, China has decided not to censor our blog. Axleration is in good hands.
You might wonder how, with these popular social networking sites blocked, the people of China get connected with each other. Fortunately, there lie many other Chinese social networking sites connecting the people. Youku is a popular Chinese site battling with YouTube of the world. On the other hand Renren is the China’s equivalent of Facebook. Take a peek at this infographic to know more about The Great Firewall of China and how the Chinese get connected online.
5 Best Smartphones for Office Use
10:09 AM
Mobiles
Like the Swiss Army Knife of the Internet technology age, the smartphone is small, versatile, and efficient. The ideal tool to have in your pocket when lost in the urban jungle or stranded on an IT island, the smartphone can send and receive audio and video phone calls, surf the Internet, receive RSS feeds, send and receive text messages across many different platforms, read and create documents, navigate via GPS, and even take high quality photos or films.
Although it goes without question that ditching your old cell phone for a sleek, new smartphone is a great idea, if you will be using the device mainly for business or office-related purposes, it’s important that you pick the right smartphone and one that will be as helpful as possible. Business-oriented smartphone users have a specific set of needs, and it is crucial that the smartphone you choose caters to those needs.
The five major smartphone platforms are Blackberry, iPhone, Palm OS, Nokia Series 60, and Windows Mobile. Although each has its own strengths and weaknesses, often the clincher that can help you decide on a system will be finding out what the majority of players use in the business markets that you frequent. Because many smartphones often have special features that allow them to more easily communicate with other smartphones of their same brand, buying a smartphone that will allow you to easily get in touch with your partners and be gotten in touch with by them will do wonders for your networking.
Make it clear to yourself exactly what you will need your smartphone to do for you. If creating and editing Word documents while you run around town is essential to you, a smartphone with the Windows Mobile platform will most likely be the best choice for you. If sending and receiving email is dearest to your heart, the Blackberry has one of the most robust email solutions. If multimedia is paramount, you just might fall in love with an iPhone. If you will be away from a charging solution for long periods of time, you will need a device with an extended battery life.

If you plan to be entering a lot of data on your smartphone, make sure to get one that features some kind of QWERTY-based keyboard. Tactile keyboards are often deeply cherished by those who prefer them, but soft keyboards have their own set of fanatic aficionados. Try out both types and see which keyboard is up your alley.
With all the above considerations in mind, here are five of the best smartphones for office use.
Blackberry Curve
Great for email and data input, the Blackberry Curve features a QWERTY-based keyboard and will alert you the second an email arrives in your inbox. The Curve is the most compact and lightweight Blackberry available and works in over two hundred countries around the world. It also features GPS navigation, a high-quality digital camera, and a great multimedia player.
LG Voyager

This device also comes with a high-quality 3G Internet connection.
MOTO Q 9h
Besides featuring a QWERTY keyboard and a 3G connection, the 9h is a Windows Mobile smartphone that allows for a high degree of compatibility with all Microsoft Office files. It is also Bluetooth-capable and features an expandable microSD memory slot.
Motorola Droid Pro
This smartphone offers a complete synchronization solution between the device and your office’s calendar and email. The Droid Pro was specifically designed with office users in mind, and it features a complete QWERTY-based keyboard and plenty of useful Android apps.
iPhone 4
Not the mere toy that it used to be, the iPhone 4 is becoming a serious contender on the business smartphone market. If you are unable to find the perfect business solutions among the wealth of apps available for this device, you may simply be impossible to please.
BlackBerry Bold 9900 – The Perfect Blend of Touch and Type
10:07 AM
Mobiles
The Bold 9900 from BlackBerry marks a mix of the old and the new. The old, because it retains the prototypical BlackBerry physical form, and the new because it is one of RIM’s finest efforts at incorporating touchscreen technology. Although BlackBerry have released touchscreen phones before these had sought to emulate the full frontal design made popular by phones such as the iPhone. The Bold 9900 is the first attempt to bring this touch functionality to a more traditional BlackBerry style design.
This is good news for a number of reasons. Firstly, the design employed by BlackBerry is their main selling point, and the thing that has made BlackBerry phones so popular with their users. This includes business professionals and also a lot of the younger generation who need a speedy means of tapping out messages. It is also good news because it provides the perfect blend of physical typing and touchscreen features, a mixture that is not really on offer from purely touchscreen phones.
With many onscreen keyboards being awkward to use at best, having a QWERTY keyboard at your disposal makes it far easier to write emails and text messages. The Bold 9900 also benefits from being the first BlackBerry phone to feature RIM’s new BlackBerry OS 7. OS 7 was initially intended to be OS 6.1, a minor update to their previous operating system. However, RIM felt that the changes made were so significant that it deserved to be classed as a whole new integer version in itself.
OS 7 now features Liquid Graphics. This is the perfect feature with which to make use of the new touchscreen features, as it speeds up interface transitions and also provides a much more enjoyable visual experience. The graphics are impressive indeed, and the Bold can handle it with ease thanks to the increase in processing power (1.2GHz which is almost double that of the last BlackBerry Bold).
The Bold 9900 deals out an impressive 5 megapixel camera that includes 720p video recording, making it the best BlackBerry phone for taking pictures or recording those special moments. Of course, the Bold 9900 also comes with the features that you would expect from any BlackBerry handset including BlackBerry Messenger and BlackBerry Maps, and for professional users comes with DocsToGo.
Many phone companies have been quick to jump on the full frontal touchscreen bandwagon and RIM, for better or worse, is one of the few smartphone companies that has stuck to its guns and tried to retain its unique niche. TheBold 9900 deals the perfect compromise between the iconic BlackBerry design and all of the latest touchscreen wizardry that is available, and is the ultimate phone for all BlackBerry lovers.

We are on a mission to connect over one billion people and our continued partnership with Facebook brings us one step closer to this goal.” said Rick Osterloh on Skype’s official blog post.
